News: Here Are the Prices for Every Apple Watch Model (From $349 to $17,000)

The long-awaited Apple Watch is ready for retail, with pricing and availability announced at Apple's Spring Forward event. Each of the three variants—Apple Watch Sport, Apple Watch, and Apple Watch Edition—will be available in two sizes, 32mm and 44mm, with preorders beginning on April 10th and the retail launch on April 24th. The Watches will initially be available nine countries: Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. You'll be able to purchase all variants through Apple's Store (both online and brick-and-mortar), as well as other select retailers. Now that you know where to get one, it's time to figure out just how much you'll be shelling out for these suckers.

Apple Watch SportThe introductory variant is the most price-conscious, using anodized aluminum rather than the stainless steel and gold found on its more upscale varieties. The 'Sport' model also has the simplest pricing structure:38mm Silver Aluminum Case with White (Blue/Green/Pink) Sport Band - $349 42mm Silver Aluminum Case with White (Blue/Green/Pink) Sport Band - $399 38mm Space Gray Aluminum Case with Black Sport Band - $349 42mm Space Gray Aluminum Case with Black Sport Band - $399 While the software will be identical on all variants, the Sport is the only one to opt for Ion X glass rather than utilizing a Sapphire Crystal display. While that certainly keeps the cost down, Apple states that Ion X is "especially resistant to scratches and impact." Coupled with a durable fluoroelastomer band, the Sport is a great option for both the price and health-conscious consumer.

Apple WatchThe higher-end model, though not the highest-end (see below), the "standard" Apple Watch uses stainless steel in its build and comes with a variety of band options. Prices start at $549 and $599 for the 38mm and 42mm sizes, and go up to as much as $1099.38mm Stainless Steel Case with White Sport Band - $549 42mm Stainless Steel Case with White Sport Band - $599 38mm Stainless Steel Case with Black Sport Band - $549 42mm Stainless Steel Case with Black Sport Band - $599 38mm Stainless Steel Case with Black Classic Buckle - $649 42mm Stainless Steel Case with Black Classic Buckle - $699 38mm Stainless Steel Case with Milanese Loop - $649 42mm Stainless Steel Case with Milanese Loop - $699 38mm Stainless Steel Case with Black Modern Buckle - $749 42mm Stainless Steel Case with Black Leather Loop - $699 38mm Stainless Steel Case with Midnight Blue Modern Buckle - $749 42mm Stainless Steel Case with Bright Blue Leather Loop - $699 38mm Stainless Steel Case with Soft Pink Modern Buckle - $749 42mm Stainless Steel Case with Stone Leather Loop - $699 38mm Stainless Steel Case with Brown Modern Buckle - $749 42mm Stainless Steel Case with Light Brown Leather Loop - $699 38mm Stainless Steel Case with Link Bracelet - $949 42mm Stainless Steel Case with Link Bracelet - $999 38mm Space Black Case with Space Black Stainless Steel Link Bracelet - $1049 42mm Space Black Case with Space Black Stainless Steel Link Bracelet - $1099 Keep in mind that many of these bands can be purchased as add-ons, ranging from $49 to $249 at this time. Additionally, this model will sport a Sapphire Crystal display, a definite step up from the Sports' Ion-X glass display. With 20 models to choose from in this variant, the standard Apple Watch will likely be a hot seller, although we'd venture to guess that the premium variant, the Apple Watch Edition, will be the biggest profit maker of the bunch.

Apple Watch EditionBig spenders, this one's for you. With a starting price tag of $10,000—no, that's not a typo—the Edition is clearly meant for the more affluent among us. Apple knows if it can get away with charging top-dollar for this one, and they can expect huge returns in profit, with reports that the amount of gold used having a cost of $640 (with about $2,000 more for a gold link bracelet)—that's quite a profit margin, especially for devices that may become obsolete in a few years time.38mm 18-Karat Rose Gold Case with White Sport Band - $10000 42mm 18-Karat Rose Gold Case with White Sport Band - $12000 Of course, if you're shelling out the equivalent of a small compact car for one of these watches, you're going to want to upgrade the band, and you're looking at a cap of $17,000 for the high-end Watch/band configuration. At least the bands will be much more evergreen than the Watch itself—software updates will only do so much until you have to replace the whole shebang. These devices will be available at "select" Apple locations and, we'd guess, some high-end, Tiffanys-like retailers. This is a status-symbol product, and outside of fashion, the Edition could be useful for other means, at least according to some...
