Scavenging for weapons and supplies in PUBG adds to the element of excitement and dread of the unknown. But this feeling can quickly turn into annoyance as you attempt to swap your weapon for a better one on the ground, only to automatically pick up the gun you just dropped again.As great as PUBG is, it does have frustrating little quirks. Chief among these is the game's auto-pickup feature that helps you retrieve loose items on the ground. This has its benefits — it takes the guesswork out of picking up the right ammunition and accessories, for instance, and it lets you focus on your surroundings.But the drawbacks can make this feature more trouble than it's worth. The biggest issue is it takes away your choice of what gun to arm yourself with. If you have a shotgun and a rifle and you come across a pistol, you can't really drop the shotgun. Disabling Auto-PickupThe scenario outlined above can prove deadly when looting an enemy you just eliminated out in the open, and it can make you a sitting duck to anyone else who may be around. Thankfully, this default setting can easily be disabled, even if you're currently in a match.To disable auto-pickup, tap on the cog-shaped settings button in the upper-right corner of the screen. From there, select "Pick Up" on the right side to access this setting, the tap on the switch next to "Auto Pick Up" to toggle the feature off. With this feature off, you'll now be able to swap out your current weapon for any type of firearm that you find. Of course, this means you'll have to pick up and manage your inventory manually, but you can always turn it back on when you find cover and get a moment.
